About Zaria Design

Sarah Hutchison (she/her), creator of Zaria design, resides in Calgary, Alberta. Her multimedia work spans from realistic to abstract and  combines indian ink, acrylic, watercolor, photography, collage and digital drawing and compositing. Wildlife and nature, dance and movement, optical art, the magical and mystical, abstraction and color are themes of her work to date.

Sarah’s process melds  technical skills with  intuitive layering.  The beginning of a work inspires the next part and then the next etc. Color interactions between vivid discordant hues create sparks of brightness or high energy and are woven together with other contrasts and harmonies in overlapping puzzles.

Recent work:

Sarah’s most recent collection is inspired by morning walks in a favorite enchanted nature reserve. These walks  have been (and are) a sanctuary, a joy, a series of magical adventures, a source of strength and  a conduit of connection with nature,  community and the divine.
