One morning this summer I watched in awe as a white pelican flew over the elbow river, the trail I was standing on and then into the thick white spruce woods beside.. It is my third white pelican sighting in Griffith woods and it is always so special. The first time, the bird darted out of some wetlands and over my head so low and fast that I instinctively ducked! They are gigantic and remind me of dinosaurs!
